The way I look at it there's two sides to this coin:
1. You made the right choice. So buying more makes sense
2. When the price goes up, you should be thinking of selling. Buying more might mean paying higher for a stock that might be overvalued.

My opinion:
Your initial reason of buying : correct
circumstances(like new contract, better profits, new ventures etc) make your initial valuation too cheap...buying more or averaging up
When the price goes up.....I will see whether overvalue(this is very subjective pe,eps, industry prospect, compare to peers blah blah blah)or not to decide to sell.
otherwise do nothing, wait till a moomoo cow becoame a huge buffalo!

The objective of this game ; make gains (profit)
The way ; buy low sell high
Price up = sell and take profit?
Bear in mind this is one side of the coin. I am curious as you are to know whether averaging up is a good strategy or not.

For me u can buy on the way up as well on the way down !
As long as whenever u buy u must evaluate the value of stock based on the underlying business(based on latest info) agst the stock price u pay.
If the risk v reward position is favourable then buy !

Random,
- Price up = sell and take profit?
See hor.. if you would think about that above statement for a minute.
Yes, on one hand, when the price goes up, naturally the buyer will have ze profit.
However... should one sell whenever one has the profit?
If one adopts such a strategy constantly, how then can one ever have a truly great winner? If one keeps selling for a profit then how can one achieve say buying shares like Dialog at 0.32 sen and selling it only at 1.80?
For me... it goes much deeper than this... and... i am sure u do understand this issue.

Dear Moo,
I fully understand what you are trying to say. However, please take note of my original post:
The way I look at it there's two sides to this coin:
1. You made the right choice. So buying more makes sense
2. When the price goes up, you should be thinking of selling. Buying more might mean paying higher for a stock that might be overvalued."
I'm giving you two scenarios. I never said I was inclined to any side. I merely wish to see others opinions given there are two choices when the price of a stock goes up. We are discussing about "averaging up" aren't we?

My bad. Utterly terible translation eh?
So... ur issue is this...
The way I look at it there's two sides to this coin:
1. You made the right choice. So buying more makes sense
2. When the price goes up, you should be thinking of selling. Buying more might mean paying higher for a stock that might be overvalued."
Err... :s31:
let me try again... :s25:
1. Buying more depends on the pricing and how you add the stock into ur stock piggy bank.
2. When price goes up... after debating on whether I should add more of the stock, I would usually try to sit on it.
How?
ok ah?
